1. Wli Waterfall/ Atome Monkey Sanctuary Tour

For this day trip we leave Ho very early in the morning to visit the Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary. It is important to arrive very early to see the monkeys as they are nocturnal animals and so are not visible during the day (coming from Accra we would skip the Sanctuary because the trip from the city is much further). This Sanctuary was created in 1993 to protect the sacred mona monkeys that live in the surrounding forests. There is a stop at a wood carving shop at Hohoe with breakfast at Aylos Bay, a Volta lakeside resort, at Atimpoku. We will have a picnic lunch at the waterfall. The Wli Falls is billed as the largest waterfall in West Africa. Thousands of fruit bats nest in the adjacent cliffs - really an awesome sight. You can have a refreshing dip in the small pool at the base of the falls!

2. Mount Afadjato Tour

Mount Afadjato Tour. Mount Afadjato is Ghana's highest peak and since 1998 its forested slopes have been protected. The pretty village of Liati Wote is the base for our day hike on Afadjato. From the village, Afadjato can be climbed as a roughly two-hour round trip, with great views as far as distant Lake Volta en route, as well as good bird and butterfly watching and very occasional glimpses of monkeys or small antelope. Another attraction which takes another 45 minutes is the impressive Togbo Waterfall, which has a refreshing pool at its base! Breakfast is at Aylos Bay and a picnic lunch at the Liati Wote Tourism Development Centre.

3. Amedzofe Waterfall/ Gemi Mountain Tour

During this day tour we climb the mountain: Gemi, visit Amedzofe Waterfall and then an old German Missionary Cemetery. Breakfast is at Aylos Bay and lunch is at the Visitor Rest Garden, which is half way up the mountain.

4. Sogakope/Ada Tour

Today is a visit to an Ostrich farm and the Volta estuary respectively. Visitors may also like to cruise across the river near the estuary. Breakfast is at Atlantic Beach Drive, Ningo. And lunch is at Manet Paradise Holiday Resort.

5. Aflao/Keta Tour

Today, we visit Ghana and Togo's main border which is in Aflao, the third largest urban settlement in the Volta Region, and then on to the Keta beach scenes. Remember: pictures mustn't be taken of the border or anything government-related! Keta is the site of Fort Pridzenstein, which was built by the Danes in 1784 and served as a slave castle. There are local markets which are really vibrant and colourful. We will check which days are market days before setting off... There is also a small-scale textile weaving enterprise across from the Keta Secondary School called Ash-Geo Handmade Training Centre where we can see Kente Cloth being made. Breakfast is at Atlantic Beach Drive, Ningo. And lunch is at the Keta Beach Hotel.

6. Akosombo Tour

Cruising on lake Volta on the Dodi Princess ferry to Dodi island. This tour is only given on Sundays. Breakfast is at Aylos Bay and lunch is on board the ferry.

7. Aburi Gardens/Shai Hills Game Reserve Tour

Today we walk around Ghana's biggest and oldest botanical gardens. Later there is a visit to the Shai Hills Resource Reserve, which is the closest wildlife sanctuary to Accra. On Wednesday and Saturdays it would be worth a visit to the Agomanya Market which has many stalls selling beads. Close by there is also the Cedi's Bead Factory whcih is a great place to see traditional bead makers at work. It is also possible to buy beads at the factory. Breakfast is at the Aburi Gardens and lunch is at the Shai Hills Resort.

8. Cape Coast/Kakum National Park Tour

Today leaving from Accra we visit the Cape Coast Slave Castle, and then on to the Kakum National Park to go on the Canopy walk and listen to a guide talk about plants and herbal medicine and the forest. Breakfast is at Anomabu Beach Resort and lunch is at Hans Cottage Botel.

9. Obuasi Gold Mines

Today we go underground to see gold mining. Breakfast is at Wankam Beach Farm and lunch is at the Anyinam Lodge.
